The "Judicial Hellholes" report has come out from the American Tort Reform Association and it named my past stomping ground and current stomping ground as hellholes. While I am coming to learn that the Rio Grande Valley here in Texas is widely viewed as a plaintiff-friendly venue I was a little surprised that South Florida was named as well. Growing up I always felt Florida was a very conservative state, what with the large retired population and having a Bush for a Governor. This new information leaves me wondering if the state itself might be going in a different direction. I will have to keep an eye on the state to see if more large plaintiff's awards come out of Florida.
